Poor Miss Pea. She’s going through diaper rash hell. It started last week, she was running a fever Thursday evening and it continued through Friday. Thankfully we had a doctor appointment for her 9 month check. When I undressed her in the office her little butt was blistery. Major ouch! Our doctor thought she had a virus and it would run it’s course. The diaper rash had cleared up with a couple of days use of Desitin. Tonight, it came back with a vengence. Her poor little bottom! Not a darn thing will help it. We decided to just put her in a pajama top tonight and get up every hour to change her diaper. Not my idea of fun, but hopefully it will help her. I’m just at a loss of... [more]
Have I mentioned I knit? Not well, but I can do it. Granted, it can’t be difficult…we’re talking dish cloths. I can knit the crap outta dish cloths. I started a blanket for Pea when I was pregnant, due to having really, really bad carpal tunnel while pregnant it was never finished. I’ve made it my new goal to finish the blanket before her birthday. Can it be done? I really hope…it’s going to cut into my reading time. I can knit or I can read. I haven’t figured out how to do both at once. I’d post a picture, because the yarn is absolutely fabulous, but I’ve only got a fourth of it done. Let me get at least half…then I’ll feel just... Remember the 9 year bathroom?? If you need to refresh your memory, you can find it here. Since Brand’s birthday has come and gone, our bathroom hasn’t had any change. Oh wait, let me take that back, he’s taken everything out, and the vanity finally came out of the box. Albeit, it’s in the hallway, but it’s out of the box. I had forgotten what it looked like! Wonderful isn’t it? Someday…someday. One another note…Little Miss Pea is now 9 months! Where has time gone? These aren’t great photos, but Pea was sick the day before. Her stats, 27 inches and 16 lbs. In those nine months she’s gained 11 lbs and has grown 8 inches. I’m... [more]

Shannon at Rock In My Dryer is hosting a fun carnival, What’s In Your Car? Here’s the deal…You clean out your car, and then post what was in it. I try to clean Virginia out once a week, but it doesn’t always happen. Despite our hurricane force winds (I live in Nebraska), and the flash flood warnings (and we’re in the middle of a severe drought) I’ve taken a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. The loot? Well, I had: Pea’s stroller 2 shopping cart covers 1 high chair cover 2 of Pea’s blankets Pea’s sunhat A pink bear that attaches to the stroller Another toy of Pea’s Basketball Frisbee thing Peter Rabbit Book Rubber band Pea’s... See those two things, they made me itch. That’s right I’d break out with a crazy rash when I touched them. They’re history. I love the end result, it’s about time. Lucy was the job foreman. She contributed by watching over the boys very carefully and making sure that they put the new plants right where they were supposed to go. All while maintaining her stretched out position. We think she’s turning into a skunk. She’s got a faint white strip down her back, what’s up with that? It’s just recently appeared. Now we’ve got a half jack rabbit, half skunk. What happened to that mini schnauzer we used to have? Read More →
There is a great contest going on over at 5 Minutes for Mom. Check it out! My contribution… The Nebraskaland Days Parade always makes me feel just like kid again! When Parade day rolls around I have that jumpy, excited, “oh I can’t wait” feeling in my stomach. We all know that feeling, right? Johnny has been in the parade for two years now for Charlie’s North Platte Plumbing. The first year the “Toilet Train” was finished the night before the parade. Last year, the kids rode on the Cow Toilets and the adults walked. Except for me…being pregnant and on a 105 degree day…it wasn’t happening! This year, I plan on walking... [more]
I’ve been tagged by Steph @ Adventures In Babywearing. I have to list 10 weird or random facts about me. So, here we go! 1. I’ll wake up in the middle of the night because I really want to finish a book I’m reading. It doesn’t matter if I’ve just started it or am close to finishing it. I just can’t go to sleep unless it’s done. 2. I just ordered a new baby sling, it’s here. I just really love Mama Speaks. Great stuff… 3. I’d love to have a house full of kids, but I have to be happy with only two. 4. I like listening to downloadable books…my only complaint is that it’s too slow moving. I wish there was a switch... Lemon Cream Strawberries 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 tsp. of lemon zest (I used more) 1/2 cup of confectioner’s sugar 1 Tbsp of fresh squeezed lemon juice (although I used more to taste) 2 quarts of fresh strawberries Combine the first 4 ingredients in a small mixing bowl, beat until blended. Cover and chill. Wash strawberries, make two perpendicular slices down pointed end of each strawberry, cutting to within 1/2″ of stem end. Carefully spread out quarter sections of each strawberry to form a “cup”. Pipe in the lemon cream mixture. (I used my Pampered Chef pastry kit and it worked like a charm!) Refrigerate until ready to serve. This recipe is SOOO yummy! It’s... [more]
I should have taken off the bib. Eh, well. Pea thinks it’s funny when you put the Diva headband on her head. Is this a sign of what’s to come? I haven’t posted a binkie photo in a while. She’s crawling like crazy now. It’s amazing how quick they can be! Read More →

It’s Mother’s Day, and a day like any other. The boys are off working, while Pea and I are staying home. One of my favorite movies is on…Sixteen Candles. That Jake Ryan is so cute! We’ll probaby go out to Spring Fling a craft show. Otherwise, I need to get some pictures from my recently found camera, on to the computer. I love this quote… Grown don’t mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown? What’s that suppose to mean? In my heart it don’t mean a thing. ~Toni Morrison, Beloved, 1987 I’ve been eyeing this for a while, and it was the perfect Mother’s Day Present. Thank you, Brand, Johnny and Pea!... [more]

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Target? Yeah, could live there! The closest one is 100 miles away, and with gas prices this high, I really can’t justify driving to Kearney just to go to Target. I think I could manage though if I won this. That’s right, a $100.00 gift card to Target! You know you’re headed over there already! Read More →
