Seeryus Mama

Yesterday, we had Johnny’s second Go-Cart race. After the first race, I was still pretty unsure of my role as registration person/score keeper/Mama to a racer. I like my old title “Pit Mama” (Hey, that would be a great shirt!) back. You know, it went pretty darn well. One of our very dear friends keeps score for us, but she had to go to another track to keep score for the Stock Cars in Lexington, so she helped me though Heats A and B. I was on my own for the 7-9 year old Trophy Dash and the Features. It wasn’t bad! Between Levi (my brother) and I, we did it! The heat…the humidity…give me air conditioning, or give me death! So maybe that is a bit dramatic. For real though, it’s bloody hot outside! Brand turned on the A/C last night, and that in itself is a BIG thing. The air conditioning is never turned on until July. He’d had enough last night. I don’t know if he is weakening, or just getting older! (I’m just saying)Today was a scorcher as well. We don’t have humidity like we’ve had the last few days. I just can’t believe it. Johnny is a swimmer, can’t keep the kid away from water. Pea loves bath time. I figured that she’d be a little swimmer too. Well, that’s what I get for thinking! We bought a pool last week, albeit a small one, but it’s a pool. Pea is scared to death! After lunch, we put the suits on, slathered ourselves in sunscreen and went out for some water fun. To which quickly became me, getting an old blanket out and Pea watching Lucy run around the yard. She hated it, totally freaked (and I mean FAH-REAKED!) out. It’s that time again, NebraskaLand Days are upon us. NebraskaLand Days is a huge deal here in my hometown. NEBRASKAland DAYS is a celebration of the state of Nebraska and its heritage. Consisting of parades, art shows, rodeos, concerts, and much, much more, NEBRASKAland DAYS is bar none the largest event in western Nebraska. Throughout the celebration, more than 100,000 people will come to North Platte to take part in the many festivities that this event offers. This year the concert headliners were Lifehouse and Dierks Bentley. I’m not a huge fan of either group. Personally, I don’t listen to country music, but my husband and son do. Yes, yes I am. I’m going to get a tattoo. Or two, I guess. To start at the beginning, I’ve always wanted one, then for a while thought I could live without one. Ever since we had Pea, I have had it in my heart that I want to get that tattoo…or two. I’m going to get Johnathan Reilly on my left wrist. He’s left handed, so it seems appropriate. Paige Charlotte will adorn my right wrist. I do believe that she’s going to be a right handed girl. I’ve been over and over where I want the tattoos, but couldn’t make my mind up. Since we will only have two children, the wrists seem to be the perfect spot. It will be a while before I have it done, probably... [more]

It’s a short one today, my apologies. I’m just exhausted. We’ve had a very busy weekend, go cart races went well yesterday…it was all day long, but a success. I’m off to a doctor appointment in a little while. Hopefully Pea will want a long afternoon nap today! Lucy is still doing well. The poor pup is going bonkers with her shaved stomach though. She’s rubbed some areas raw. Hasn’t touched the scar site, but her stomach itches like mad. We’ve put some anti-itch cream on it and she’ll sleep on a cold towel peacefully.
