I Need a New Cell Phone

June 19, 2008 · 5 comments

Let’s just say I’m in the market. The ever so hazy and a little bit crazy, cell phone market. What to get? There’s nothing wrong with my phone, aside from being two years old. It’s a Razr, razor…whatever. I’ve moved beyond it’s capabilities. I need my email, my internet. I want to TEXT. I’ve said it out loud…I want to send text messages. My husband is now breathing in a sack. He doesn’t understand the need for any of it. I’ve got a pretty good reason for all of it…well the email aspect. Being a Public Relations/Media person for the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Pageant, I feel like the 3 weeks leading up to Pageant, as well as the week of, I’m at the computer non-stop. I’m getting emails, sending press releases. If I don’t have my internet acess, that’s when I get the ever so important, must-be-send-a-reply-in-the-next-three-minutes email.

What’s a girl to get? Sure, I’d love an iPhone, Brand however, will nix that thought even before I get the “i” out. Too costly. I’d more than likely be able to afford it if I worked full time, but why do that when the kids are young. I’ve got the rest of my life to work all day, every day. Back to the subject at hand…being that our cell phone company just sold. We are with Alltel, they sold to Verizon. I don’t know what to think. Around here, Verizon runs commercials non-stop. The phones they promote are rather, uhmmm, cheap. I want something that will last, something that will withstand a growing little girl obsessed with cell phones. Pea loves our phones. She’s not easy on them either!

Verizon, iPhone, Alltel customers, help me! Guide me in the right direction! Once you sign your name on the dotted line, that phone is yours for the next two years. Tell me what lasts, and what is complete crap. I’m lending you my ear!

I have Verizon, and I really like the service. You can pretty much get any phone with Verizon, except the iPhone, which is still only AT&T. I have a Morotola Q with Verizon, and I’ve been really happy with it. It’s easy to send emails and texts, and it has a big screen. The only bad part is that it’s big, so it doesn’t fit well in a pocket, and it’s a little weird to talk on, because it’s flat and square. But for texting and email, I love it. I can even read documents on it, including .pdf’s. It strains your eyes, but in a pinch, it’s a godsend.

Before my iphone I had a red Sync (still have it). It was a great camera phone & super simple for texting. And holds quite a few songs!

Ebay has them right now for around 50-75 bucks.

Did you see how cheap the new iPhones are? Not sure if they’re available yet? I just have to say that I love mine! (I already had Cingular, which switched to AT&T so I didn’t have to change carriers.)

I have no idea about phones. I have one but usually take the free on that comes with my new contract. Then again I don’t use it too much and don’t text or email or take pictures! nclm

Thanks for visiting my blog earlier today and for the kind words! The fabric that you commented on will be made into a tote that I will put up for a give-away starting June 30th, so make sure you come back to sign up for the July give-away! (I have one monthly.) Your friends are welcome too!

Now on to the business at hand… Man, I wish I could help you! My daughter just bought a Blackberry — priced at $400 originally, but they (ATT) gave it to her as an “upgrade” for $99 and a 2 year commitment. Not bad…
