Lands’ End Backpack

by seeryusmama on July 28, 2008

****THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!****

Recently, Lands’ End sent me a Cordura StudyHaul Backpack to test out. This is one of their new backpacks for the upcoming school year. I’m so diggin’ this backpack!

Here’s some info about this backpack.

Cordura® StudyHaul is made for kids who are tough on packs. It’s made of Cordura nylon, which resists tears and abrasions better than other standard pack cloth. In fact, it’s three times more durable than standard polyester, and two times more durable than standard nylon. The pack is also made for ultra-organizers. Compartments on both sides give them plenty of pockets for all their school supplies and more. Plus, an exterior stash pocket gives them a handy place to store a light jacket, notebook, or book. A big main compartment stores plenty of books.

Now that Johnny is in 3rd grade, he’s ready for the more mature, stylish school necessities. Gone are the days of character backpacks. Frankly, I don’t mind. This is a great backpack for him, with all of the “extras”, and the durability. I don’t have to tell you, kids are hard on their backpacks, we were lucky if the bag would last through the first semester. The Cordura StudyHaul however, I have no doubts at all that this backpack will last all year, and beyond!

At $39.50, I think it’s a fantastic value. For an extra $5.00 you can have it monogramed. There are five great colors to choose from. I’ve tried to narrow down Johnny’s favorite thing about the backpack. He’s excited about being able to take him MP3 player along to school, he loves the cord port. There is a front pouch that will be perfect for his water bottle. He is excited to kick off the school year with this great new backpack.

*****I’ve got a Cordura StudyHaul Backpack in Garnet to giveaway to one of my lucky readers! Entering to win is easy, check out the Cordura StudyHaul Backpack and tell me your favorite feature and color by leaving a comment, don’t forget to leave your email address so I can contact you if you win. Winner will be chosen using Random.org. Should the winner not respond to my email in 3 days, I’ll choose another winner. Deadline to enter will be on August 2th at noon CST. Good luck to all!

backpacks are the most important part of school supplies. Thanks for the nice information.

2 hopeful #1 July 28, 2008 at 7:09 am

Personally I’m a fan of the “house key” clip and the pencil/pen holders on the side zip flap! I remember just throwing mine pencils/pens in my book bag and they could poke me in the back when walking. I also remember loosing my house key. This way it’s safe and always with me!

Thanks girlie!!!!

3 Amanda July 28, 2008 at 8:56 am

I love the thick carry straps. They look super durable, and comfy. I also like the BIG opening for books! It’d be hard to loose anything in there. So I also like the side pockets, they’re tall, and look like they’d be easy to organize!

This is an awesome backpack!!!!

4 sdwaard July 28, 2008 at 9:16 am

5 Sheila July 28, 2008 at 9:16 am

6 Susanne July 28, 2008 at 9:26 am

I love the outside pocket, for stuffing with all the things I forget to put in the zipper portion! Thanks!! That way I can throw it in, in the morning!!

That’s a terrific giveaway! I think blue and I htink the best feature is the exterior stash pocket – my little guy is always having trouble trying to stuff his jacket into his beat up bookbag.

I like the place to put your pens and pencils! I can never find mine!

Great Info about the back pack. My daughter is going into 4th grade and she seems to be hard on backpacks. The durability will be great for her and she too is ready for a more mature look. Also all the space will be great for all her books. Thanks for the tip!

I like the side pockets and love the dark cobalt blue!

50 Alitheia July 28, 2008 at 5:25 pm

I like the side pockets, because due to the predisposition of gravity, pens and pencils always seem to sink to the bottom of backpacks and take forever to fish out again, the side pockets solve that dilemma nicely =) oh and my fav colors are a toss up between garnet, black, and dark cobalt =)

51 Jennifer July 28, 2008 at 5:27 pm

Jo-lynne has one of these too (I saw it on her blog today as a matter of fact). She said it was comfortable, and to me, that would be very important since my daughter will already be in the baby bjorn in front.

52 claire July 28, 2008 at 5:36 pm

The side and stash pockets rock! Olive green is the new black for me… :)

54 Tammy July 28, 2008 at 5:40 pm

reflective trim helps make them visible — here in the northern plains in winter it is dark early in the morning and early in the afternoon too lol ! The reflective trim is nice when the kids are walking around so you can see them! I’m a green girl myself and the olive one is pretty!

For me the favorite color would be anything but the “Berry” one, though I’m partial to the blue or black ones. My daughter would probably like the Berry color the most.
Favorite feature – probably the side pockets. MP3 cords are not an issue at this time. Second favorite would probably be the Lands’ End reputation for quality. Their stuff just lasts.

114 Sonya July 29, 2008 at 11:01 am

Great sturdy backpacks from Lands End. They last forever! I love how they designed the pockets on the side for this one…

I’m a freak organizer and I try to instill the same priorities into my students and my nieces and nephews :) Having a bag like this would make things a lot easier for the student :) Less tossing in of things and more putting them away where they are accessible :) I prefer the black or the cobalt blue one and the side pockets are phenomenal. Whoever designed this bag must’ve know what being a student was all about :) Thanks!

I love it in garnet, and I just dig how indestructible it seems.

It’s sort of ironic, my cousin was just complaining in her blog that she needed a new backpack and she hates REI and North Face and blah blah fishsticks everywhere, and I mentioned in response that I had heard Land’s End has great ones, though I didn’t know from personal experience.

I really love the side pockets to help organize pens/pencils and how wide the top opens. I remember how hard it was to get those giant books and binders out…but this would make it easier!

I’m torn between the Dark Cobalt Blue and Garnet.

Thanks for the giveaway!

264 stephandtim July 31, 2008 at 10:34 am

My favorite is the Berry! My favorite thing about these bags are that they are tear resistant! That’s a great feature b/c my students throw their bookbags on the cement while we have afternoon recess! Thanks for a great giveaway!

265 Angie July 31, 2008 at 11:04 am

Love the side pockets and the wide open top. Such a cool bag. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

I like the Vintage Olive color most. My favorite feature is the side pockets for supplies – neat idea! Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I like all the compartments for school supplies.

268 Ranee July 31, 2008 at 1:09 pm

I am also fond of red, so the garnet would be my pick as well. This looks sturdy, and like it would hold a lot. Thank you for offering it!

269 Rachel S. July 31, 2008 at 2:14 pm

Love the side compartments for little things so you don’t have to go digging to the bottom! I like the Garnet or black.

I like the Bark Cobalt Blue because I like different blues together. Feature-wise, I like the side pocket, but also the top opening. I only have a newborn at this point, but this would be a great diaper bag/carry-all/purse/you-name-it.

271 Vanessa July 31, 2008 at 3:59 pm

I also like the garnet! And a new backpack would be a great start to the school year! Thanks for the chance to win!

272 Gretchen July 31, 2008 at 4:45 pm

The Dark Cobalt Blue bag is my favorite and the part I like the best is it’s tear resistant. My kids go through backpacks like paper bags.

273 Heather July 31, 2008 at 4:57 pm

I like the C-shaped padded shoulder straps and I like both garnet and olive.

274 Hippolyta July 31, 2008 at 7:59 pm

What my kids love about Lands End is all the compartments to store their pencils, mp3 player, scissors, etc. I love the color.

275 Jenna July 31, 2008 at 8:36 pm

I think the reflective trim is a great idea and i like the cobalt blue best. If this is open to international entries count me in!
Thanks,

I love that it has a stash pocket for smaller items. Black would be the color I like the best!

283 Jo July 31, 2008 at 11:24 pm

Okay favorite feature would be the side flaps/pockets. They look like they would make keeping track of things so much easier.

As for favorite color, I’m actually one of those weirdos who doesn’t have a fave color so we’re cool with garnet. ;)

kids are always needing a new backpack…maybe this one would last a little longer than some others that they have had!!

297 James Massaker August 1, 2008 at 11:11 pm

First of all Love the Berry color for my daughter & the Olive for my son. I think the reflective strips are a great safety feature especially because we live in the country and not many lights around so it is pretty dark in the winter when they are standing waiting for the bus. I also like all the compartments too!

Dark Cobalt Blue. The Good Housekeeping Research Institute calls the Cordura StudyHaul Backpack a “Grade-A Standout” and gives it the only perfect score for performance. Wide-opening top is easy to load. This makes a perfect back back for my kids as they have so much to carry when they get in middle and high schools.
Thank you.

I LOVE the black. What a great bag!

301 Samantha August 2, 2008 at 11:27 am

I like the Black color the best. My favorite feature is the side pocket with the pencil pockets and key clip. I like that there is a whole pocket that closes around it by zipping up. Some backpacks have pencil pockets just on the outside…and pencils could fall out or get broken. Thanks for the opportunity! uke9000 (at) gmail (dot) com

302 Lisa August 2, 2008 at 12:29 pm

I like all the custom pockets and my favorite color is Vintage Olive.

303 Diana August 2, 2008 at 12:54 pm

The strength of the Cordura nylon impresses me. Backpacks go through a lot of abuse in a school year! Color? Well I love the garnet one you’re giving away but I also like the berry very much.

304 Xenia S August 2, 2008 at 2:26 pm

I have to go with Berry as my favorite color, with Garnet running a close second. I think the durability of this backpack has got to be the best feature – I remember wearing holes in my backpack when I was a kid and being so embarrassed to have to continue carrying it around!

Thanks!
