Yesterday I had a rough morning. To begin, the last Wednesday of every month is staff meeting morning. 8 o’clock in the morning! Yikes!! Thankfully, I’m able to take Paige with me…but we were running late. After that Miss Paige and I went to WalMart. We were nearly out of everything, so it was a big trip. A big trip sans nap. I love football. Yeah, I’m a Huskers fan through and through. But, I think I’ve found something better than watching the Huskers (did I just say that out loud?) It’s watching Johnny play football. He’s playing in the tackle league and it’s his first year. It’s so much fun!! He had his first game this week and the boys gave it their all. Movers and Shakers of Little Chicago. That’s right, North Platte was once known as Little Chicago. In the 1920’s, our little town was quite the place, whorehouses, gangsters, bootlegging. We had it all. We’re bringing it to life on September 20th, in just a few short weeks. My character, Myrtle McHugh. She ran the Madison Rooms here in North Platte. She was a Madame. This is our home. I love our home. It was built in 1940 and we are the second owners. The previous owners were Gus and Annabelle, they didn’t have children and kept close to themselves. Besides the little things that we have found in our home, I don’t know much about them. I’m sure they were very lovely people though. This floor? Not so lovely.
