One of the essentials to travel is a GPS system. Our family has been luck enough to give the Magellan RoadMate 1470 a spin. In fact, it’s taking us to Kentucky!

From the Magellan GPS website:

The Magellan RoadMate 1470 device boasts the acclaimed OneTouch™ menu, a 4.7-inch color touch screen, and an ultra-thin design. Preloaded maps and points of interest for the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico make the RoadMate 1470 ideal for both business trips and vacations. Easy-to-use, premium features give you confidence on the road and deliver a powerful navigation experience.

That’s right, the days of map reading are over…thank goodness! The Magellan RoadMate 1470 (or Maggie as I call her) is so easy to use! In May, when I went to Lincoln for my brothers college graduation I simply had to drive. All exits, the hotel and event venue were located by Maggie. Simply type in the address where you want to end up…and presto!

Take a look at all of these incredible features!

  • OneTouch™ favorites menu affords instant access to your personalized bookmarks of favorite places and searches anywhere you travel. With a single touch, find your favorite café or restaurant when you’re traveling within any city.
  • Redesigned 4.7-inch color touch screen provides powerful navigation that’s easy to view and use.
  • AAA TourBook®1 provides ratings and descriptions on AAA approved places to stay, play, dine, and save.
  • AAA Member Roadside Assistance™1 gets you help fast with a toll-free member service number to assist you in finding an AAA approved tow truck or repair shop. The menu also shows your exact GPS location so you can provide precise information to your location.
  • Highway lane assist signs show highway signs to point you in the right direction when approaching interchanges and exits, and ensure that you’ll choose the correct lane well before your next turn.
  • Spoken street names and directions so you can hear and see where you need to turn next.
  • QuickSpell® with SmartCity search narrows your address and city searches, making destination entry easy.
  • Multi-destination routing with route optimization lets you plan your trip with multiple stops in the order you want or optimize a trip for the most efficient route, saving you time and money.
  • Preloaded maps give you information and directions as you travel the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. (Mexico map activation available for purchase on http://www.magellangps.com/).
  • Millions of points of interest (POIs) help you easily find gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, coffee shops, and much more.
  • Highway exit POIs search shows you gas stations, restaurants, hotels, and more near upcoming highway exits.
  • Branded POIs display your favorite coffee shops, restaurants, and more by their respective logos.
  • Traffic Link provides live, onscreen traffic notification updates.
  • Customizable route method lets you select the shortest distance, fastest time, most use of freeways, or least use of freeways to customize your route.
  • Address book enables you to create and store contact information.
  • Auto night view adjusts your screen’s color and contrast for easy night viewing.
  • Automatic re-route lets you quickly get back on track in case you missed a turn.
  • Plan route on map by simply touching a destination on the map screen and then directly routing to it.
  • Rechargeable battery gives you the freedom to drive wireless or plan your trip when your vehicle’s engine is turned off.

Included with our Magellan RoadMate 1470 was the Traffic Link. Traffic link offers live, onscreen traffic-incident information. Plug it in and go!

  • Receive traffic alerts for life with Traffic Link.
  • Avoid upcoming road incidents with up-to-the-minute traffic alerts on your screen.
  • Reroute around traffic delays to help reduce your drive time and save fuel.

If only Stella the Suburban could drive herself! Thankfully, I am not stressing out about our upcoming family vacation. We will be staying overnight in downtown St. Louis. And I’m okay with that! That is one less thing I have to worry about because we all know that there will be plenty more things that I’m going to worry about instead! The Magellan RoadMate 1470 has my Seeryus Family Vacation stamp of approval!

**WIN!!** One lucky Seeryus Mama reader has the chance to win a Magellan RoadMate 1470 and the Traffic Link accessory! That’s a $330.00 value! To enter, check out Magellan GPS. Magellan® Maestro 4370. this would be great because my b/f drives all around the county when he works and often doesn't know where he's going, so it takes longer.

Another unit from Magellan that sounds fantastic is the Magellan Maestro 5310. I love that is offers a large 5" screen and large fonts so both my husband and I can clearly read it when we are on our many road trips! We have been wanting a GPS Unit for so long now so we can easily navigate our way when we are taking our road trips to visit our family members who are scattered all over the U.S. We take at least 4-5 trips a year and it never fails we get detoured because of construction, and always, get lost on route. My husband and I are not good with directions so we end up wasting so much time having to constantly stop and ask people how to get back on track. Usually we get the instructions wrong the first few times and end up more lost and out of our way that we were initially, LOL! This would make our trips so much less stressful and provide us with such great peace of mind as we are traveling in knowing if we do get lost, help is just a touch screen away! Thanks so much for the chance to enter.

The handheld Triton line looks great. We do a lot of hiking and my hubby is a backpacker, so that would come in handy when we go knocking about.

I need a GPS bec I Cannot read a map. I have to keep turning it every time I make a turn so that whatever direction I am going is up on the map. That is tough to do when I am the driver! ha I need a GPS to just tell me where to turn.

Another unit is the Magellan Triton 1500 – North America which is super rugged and good for outdoor hiking/trekking more than driving. I need the GPS because I am moving from the town I have lived for 20 years next year, and will MOST certainly get lost without some help!

The Magellan Maestro 4370 looks sweet. Being able to add favorites so that they are at the touch of a button, nice.

I am very directionally challenged. When people say turn east, I always ask if that's left or right.

The Magellan Triton 2000 would be fun for geocaching which we've thought of doing! We could use a gps because we are living in a new city and the map we have has been wrong more than once. And it's new! And we can't find a different one! It's even got the wrong number on one of the freeways!

Magellan Maestro 4350 GPS – and I need a GPS because one time I was in Lafayette, LA and needed to go to New Orleans to pick up my friends from the airport…instead of going East on the interstate, I went West and did not realize I had gone the wrong way until 2 hours later when I saw a giant star that said welcome to Texas! Embarrassing…

I'd love to try any of the Magellan® Maestro series units. I am so bad with directions. Although I don't drive, I really want to get my license but one of the reasons I don't is because I don't know my way around and that scares me, so I keep putting it off. I VOW to you, that if I win this, that same week I'll go get my learners permit and go on my way to getting my license.

The Magellan Triton 2000 – North America looks like a cool unit for the out of the car adventures once the gps gets you where you are going. I need a gps because I'm a guy the refuses to stop and ask for directions!!

The Magellan Maestro 4350 is amazing! I desperately need a GPS – my husband and I are tired of driving endlessly through lost towns after I look up directions online…I always tell him not to blame me…it's the computer's fault!

The Triton 2000 would be great for hiking.
We would love a GPS for the car because we travel a lot. Although I'm pretty good at reading a map, I don't know where to find hotels, interesting places to stop, or most importantly, food. I love that the RoadMate is preloaded with points of interest.

Magellan® Maestro 4370 would be just as great as this giveaway too. I used to have a GPS in my van but it doesn't work anymore and I'm constantly having to print out mapquest.com directions before I leave somewhere so I don't get lost; yet I still seem to get lost most times.

I have no sense of direction. I love going to garage sales but unless someone else is with me, I never seem to find the right street. I liked the Magellan RoadMate 1475T, which is both thin and easy to use (they say).

This one has an ultra wide 5" screen for those of us with not the greatest eyes. I could really use one of these because since moving across the country a year ago I still get lost EVERYWHERE I try to go!
