I’m sick. Johnny’s sick. Pea’s getting it too. Knock on wood, Brand isn’t sick. Yet. What I thought was my allergies yesterday, feels like I was ran over by a Mack Truck today. I really wanted to participate in Speedy’s Monday Mingle, Vlog style…but know I you all don’t want to see me like this. I don’t want to see me like this. I’m heading back to bed, then calling the doctor when the office opens. I hate being sick. Read More →
I’m rather angry and upset. With myself. I have only one person to blame…me, myself and I. See, silly me, I assumed. Yes, I know what they say about assuming. Yeah. I’ve only been tidbit that since I heard it on Seinfeld many, many years ago. Yet, did I heed that advice? No. I missed out on an incredible opportunity. I’ve learned my lesson and it will never happen again. Thankfully, I’ve come out wiser. I hope! Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can – there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did. ~Sarah Caldwell Of course, that quote is speaking volumes to me right now. The second day into being two years old was trying. Very trying. And long. Bless that little lady, but I think the day just started off on the wrong foot. Maybe it was all of the birthday cake the night before. Screaming, kicking, crying, bossy britches and just out of control. Is this was two year old children are like? Because if that’s the case, I want my baby back! I don’t know how much more of that my ears could take. Finally, at 8:15 I said I was done. Paige had a rather quick bath and it was to bed she went. Mind you, she was more than ready and she knew it. Please someone, anyone, tell me that two year old kiddies don’t magically change overnight into screaming... [more]

Yay for Friday! Aloha Friday that is… In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. My question this week is school related. How are school lunches in your area? They leave a lot to be desired here. There are three things he’ll eat, chicken patty sandwhich, chicken nuggets and walking taco. It has to be the reason I dread the back to school time. Read More →
Recently, I was sent a copy of the book The Daddy Longlegs Blues by Mike Orstein. The synopsis:Daddy Longlegs will have kids singing along with his bluesy song as they read this hip picture book! He’s one cool cat who scats, an eight-legged drummer keeping the beat. He moves and grooves and gets funky across the floor. And one thing’s for sure: no one’s better at getting mellow on a saxophone, and bringing rhythm and soul into every child’s home. It’s an absolutely darling book! It is Ornstein’s first picture book, and he’s quick to mention that he is afraid of spiders and has no musical talent whatsoever. Illustrated by Lisa Kopelke, it’s got an urban, bohemian... [more]

I’m going to share with you the all new Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture. Here’s the deal…All regular body washes cause dry skin damage. Shocking, right? I’ll tell you, I had no idea, but they damage proteins and lipids in the skin’s outer layer (called strtatum corneum) during the cleansing process which can lead to loss of critical moisture. We all know the effects of dry skin, that tightness, redness and irritation. My skin itches horribly when dry. Stop the press! Aren’t there body washes out there that clearly... [more]
I’m just now posting my Wordless Wednesday, it’s a special one…the Back to School He Goes edition! I’m now the mother of a 4th grader! We’ve always taken pictures on the steps. The first few…they were fine, then he was embarrassed about who might see. Ha! Plan was that I was going to walk him to school, but he decided that he didn’t want/need me. You know, there comes a time in every mother’s life…I just didn’t know it would happen so soon! It was after the above picture that he caught me taking pictures of him walking to school. My passion is reading. Generally, I’ll read anything I can get my hands on, especially smut er, chic lit. I scour Book Pages, Amazon and of course my favorite author websites. The Relay for Life. What can I say? It was incredible. I’m so inspired by all of the people who were there, whether they were there in person, or in our hearts and spirit. I love the above photo. As we walked around the track, we stopped to pick up a bead for each lap. Being 5 laps in, I love that you can see the shadows of other walkers and the dirt track. It was fun to be able to see how far we’d gone. I had only stopped to take a short “salsa break” with fellow team members. We thrived on our Surf’s Sweets candy and bottles of water. It was so incredible to see all of the luminaries lit up. It was beautiful. We walked and walked and walked. However,... [more]
