You’ve heard of Super Fruits, right? You know the ones:
- Antioxidants: Prunes are rich in antioxidants. Studies show that antioxidants may play a role in disease prevention and may slow the aging process in both body and brain.

- Potassium: Move over bananas! Ounce for ounce, Prunes have more potassium than bananas. Studies have shown potassium helps prevent hypertension and stroke.
- Heart Health: Prunes can help play a role in preventing heart disease and chronic diseases because they’re rich in antioxidants, which slow the chemical process of oxidation and protect key cell components from damage.
- Energy: Prunes are high in potassium, an essential mineral that helps support cell energy by regulating fluid balance, nerve impulses and muscle contraction.
- Healthy Bones: A handful of nutrient rich prunes a day may help bone metabolism and the reversal of bone loss for people with osteoporosis. They may also lead to improved bone formation.
- Weight Loss: Prunes are a great source of fiber, and this can help keep hunger pangs at bay. A diet rich in fiber can help promote fat loss if fiber foods replace fats and sweets. Plus, four prunes have just 100 calories!
- Prebiotic Power: Prunes have prebiotics, which stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the large intestine. This helps dietary fiber perform well and promotes immune system and digestive health.
- Blood Sugar Control: Prunes are rich in soluble fiber, which may play an important role in glucose control, helping to normalize blood sugar and insulin levels making diabetes more manageable.
- Regularity: Prunes are the all-natural solution to maintaining regularity because they’re a great source of fiber. A regular and consistent digestive tract leads to improved digestive and immune system health.
Surprisingly enough, you can get all of this from a dried plum, also known as a prune. Yeah, who knew? We were sent a package of Sunsweet Ones, individually wrapped prunes to try out.
We love them!
Tell me, what’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word Prunes? It’s probably not a very good result…right? (Ahem, old people food). I dare you to try out the Sunsweet Ones. They are delicious! Really! Moist and chewy, with a great sweet taste.
One of the biggest reasons is because they help little Paige…yep, I’m talking poo. She’s a girl who has a sensitive stomach, and prunes keep her going…literally. I feel good about giving her prunes, because they offer more than just fiber. Plus, the Sunsweet Ones are so easy to take everywhere! I keep a few in the diaper bag. Initially, I had planned on taking the Sunsweet Ones to Omaha. However, we left home without the diaperbag…and the Sunsweet Ones. Oy!
