Auction High

I’ve been in a funk lately.  I can’t seem to shake it.  So, yesterday I took some me time.  I went to an auction.  Something I used to do before I started working at the library.  I miss it…working on Saturdays isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.  100_1408

First, I spotted this beautiful piece…and kept my eye on it.  That’s about all I did.  I think it went for $75, which was a great price…just not for me!

Then I found this lovely chair.  I entertained the idea of recovering it to match my set in the front room.  Unfortunately, they sold it with the chair next to it…which was a shame because it was a real p.o.s.  Now, I’m kicking myself…I should have bid.

This mirror is gorgeous.  I wanted it…I really did. However, my pocketbook refused.

I came home with this table.  Roughly the size of a library table, it will become my new computer/office desk.  It’s much to grand to be in the small room in which I’ll place it, but I’ll treat it with love.  After I clean it up.

An afternoon of bidding and getting my groove back.  I’m not there yet, but it only cost me $35.

I have to move closer to you apparently – where the heck can you get a deal like that? Surely not in California.

i ADORE auctions, unfortunately (maybe that should be fortunately) we don;t have around us anymore. I got some great pieces and like you I have a table I use for a computer desk!

The table is gorgeous- I can see it being a centerpiece! And I probably woulda bought the chairs and dumped the other one….:)

There is nothing I like better then getting a treasure at a great price at an auction. Love the table.

There very few auctions where we live but TONS of junk stores (not antique stores–most call themselves Odds-n-ends stores) where you can always find treasures. I have 10 dining room chairs that I’ve collected over the past couple years and I think the most expensive one was $20. Several I paid $3-$5 for–a little TLC, some Old English, and matching fabric to recover the seats and they make for a wonderful dining room set.
