Yesterday, I spent the day cleaning kitchen cupboards. It didn’t start out that way, but when the mood hits, you just roll with it. Ironically enough, it was 10 years ago that I did the same thing. A new decade brings out the best in me, eh?
It started when we were at Mensnards (I know it’s really Menards. You say it your way, I’ll say it mine.) Deciding to avoid the crowds at Wamart, I stocked up on cleaning supplies. You know, they actually have pretty good prices…and I found several things on clearance. Anyway, Brand was checking out some tool or another and I spied the contact paper. Oh, the blasted, bloody contact paper. After I put Paige down for a nap I started in on my cupboards. Johnny was downstairs playing Wii and that was a good thing.
Contact paper + obscenities = No place for kids. Just sayin’…
This is the finished product. It’s not perfect, but it clean. My cupboards are so small. It’s ridiculous. Mind you, my kitchen is old, 70 years old now that we are in the new decade. The cupboards are all original, just with a horrible paint job. Hopefully, this year that will be our project. Because I have such a small kitchen, it shouldn’t be all that costly. Here’s to hoping. Tomorrow, I’m going to tackle the cups and dishes cabinets.
The fridge was also given a proper cleaning. I clean it quite frequently, but since I was on a roll…why not?
This beauty…oh! My quest to stay organized continues. I have a white/cork board to stay on track. Brand spend yesterday afternoon trimming it down. Originally it was too long and didn’t fit on that wall.
I need to take a better picture, one that shows my antique table that I purchased at an auction. I’m still working on organizing it…finding the right place for everything. I’m anxiously awaiting the brand spankin’ new HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web All-in-One Printer that I won from Southern Bella’s Ways To Save. (A HUGE thank you goes out to Kassie. *Future post coming!*)
Kicking off the new year with a clean house!

So glad to hear I wasn’t the only nutball spending the holiday cleaning! I scrubbed bathrooms and floors. I even steam mopped them! I got so carried away that I even oiled all the wood like crown molding, baseboards, and all our doors.
Feels good though, doesn’t it? Now I need to do my laundry room and craft room (yikes!)

Hurray! I cleaned living room shelving the day after Christmas. doesn’t sound like much??????????, my craft supplies also must be stored in the living room. I was up to my elbows in Mod Podge, spray sealers and my beloved gourds.
Glad to know there are others with some determination. Way to go Gal.

We are so on the same wavelength. I just cleaned out my pantry last week! Though we have a walk-in one that we could no long walk into. It is/was overflowing as I always grow to the space I have. To my defense every pre-winter I stock up on non-perishables in the fear we get snowed in.
As for the fridge… let’s not talk of that.
Happy New Year my friend! Congrats on the great job! Open invitation to you if you feel like cleaning/organizing again.

I have no space in my cabinets either and it’s sad because my kitchen is HUGE but there are only like 8 cabinets. Makes for a very hard time keeping organized!
Happy New Year!

I am really starting to prepare for Johanna getting down on the cleaning. We have all Hardwood! Floors, molding, built in book cases, baseboard, the wood going half way up the wall, door fames and doors! the house was built in 1919 by my fathers god mothers parents so it whas been in the family! Needless to say we differ when it comes to cleaning thank god I have the 2nd floor. I broke out a cheap tooth brush and started scrubbing in the grooves of the doors and chair rail (i think that is what they call it!) It worked to get all of the stuck on dust butstill have so much more to do!! Arrgh! lol
Nice! I’m trying to work on that sort of stuff too, but I seem to be in the weeds with last years list still. Soon, soon!
