In order to prepare for my classes next week, I plan on buying textbooks today. Last night I was perusing the online books store and had the sticker shock of my life.
$141.75 for an Intermediate Algebra book. The kicker? I don’t even like Algebra.
So, for two classes and books it’s about $800. Which I’m sure is cheap. However, I am a frugal shopper and don’t drop that kind of change without finding the very best deal around.
To be quite honest, I don’t have that kind of change around either. I wonder if I should get a second job? Fingers crossed I end up with some scholarships for the fall semester. I’m taking a full load of classes then.

Hey, I had to throw that in there, okay? I have a family to feed and textbooks to pay for.
This road to my Masters in Library Science just got a little rocky.

LOL! I hear ya though! When I was in Nursing School the books were OUTRAGEOUS!
I can’t believe books are that expensive. It’s amazing how they make learning expensive. it’s really too bad.

Have you checked out used books on the internet……or is it too late for that?
My granddaughter is in nursing school, so she can sympathize.
It will be so worth it. (When you graduate) lol

I remember buying books when I was in college – haven’t made that decision to go back for Master’s yet. Good luck to you on that! Doesn’t your school offer used books at a reduced rate or have bullentin board posting for sale items? Many students here would sell their books that way and it made for lot less expensive method of getting needed textbooks!
I never went on to College after High School…but did go back to school after a divorce and 3 kids moved to a different town. I remember getting my first books and crying. EVEN worse when I left one expensive book in the school bathroom and someone “jacked”! I was so mad! I had kids to feed and rent to pay…and no chance at scholarships the first semester. I learned a lot more about LIFE that first year than getting book smart!!!
Good luck!
I just graduated…. Thank goodness! We just bought my husbands textbooks online. They weren’t too much. I always buy and sell on half.com
Where are you taking classes??

i used to work with a girl who sold her old school books on e-bay you might try there…she got a better price than if she sold it back to the bookstore…and i’m assuming you might get a better deal too??
Wow! It’s been a while since i was in school, and i always purchased used books. They were expensive then…but nothing like tha…wow. You should definitely check ebay and half.com. Good luck!
