Brandon and I are working on making dinners easier.  In the last year we’ve really struggled with grocery shopping and meal planning.  In the past, I would go to the grocery store every two weeks.  We’d come home with a load of groceries and still ask…”What’s for dinner?” So, we’ve decided to grocery shop every week, usually on Sunday.  Before going to the store, we sit down to write what’s on the menu.  So far, so good.  This week we’re having: Sunday – Steaks, pasta salad garlic and mushroom green beans Monday – Spaghetti, garlic rolls, salad Tuesday - Sloppy Joe’s, baked french fries Wednesday – Roast Chicken... [more]

Growing up, we always had 4-5 pot pies in the freezer for those times when mom didn’t feel like making anything or it was just one of those days.  From what I can remember, my brothers and I didn’t complain!  We loved those things! Now that I’m a mom, I find myself relying on those same pot pies for my kids, er, well one of them.  Johnny is my picky guy and Paige will eat anything!  In fact, it’s gotten to the point that I’ve had to put the Banquet frozen dinner meals in the back of the freezer and hide them with other frozen products.  Out of sight, out of mind for that girl.  Because I can’t resist when she asks a if she can have a “Pot pie! ... [more]

Flu season is far from over.  I stress hand washing to the kids and when given the opportunity to try out the Healthy Touch No-Touch Hand Soap System from Lysol…I jumped on it!  After all, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends hand washing as the number one way to avoid getting sick and prevent the spread of germs to others. Recently, I had the opportunity to read Add More ~ing To Your Life:  A Hip Guide to Happiness by Garielle Berstein.  This kind of book isn’t something I typically read, but when you feel as though a change is in order, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do! Gabrielle Bernstein is the gal behind the ~ing.   She’s a motivational speaker and life coach seen riding around the West Village on a unicycle. All month long Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has hosted it’s annual 31 Days of Oscar leading up to the Academy Awards.  This year’s edition of the month-long even will feature 360 Academy Award®-nominated and winning movies, all presented uncut and commercial-free. The schedule is designed so that each movie is linked to the next movie in the lineup through a shared actor or actress. 31 DAYS OF OSCAR began Monday, Feb. 1, with Kevin Bacon and James Coco in Only When I Laugh (1981). Are you ready for yet another week of The View?  The line up for the rest of the week is as follows: Tuesday, Feb 23: MTV’s Jersey Shore will be joining the ladies.  Now, I’ll admit…I’ve never seen Jersey Shore.  I still watch MTV, but I’m more inclined to watch Nitro Circus, Jackass or 16…and Pregnant.  From what I do know about Jersey Shore…I’m excited to watch, it will be interesting.  I’ve read several bits of controversy regarding the show. I feel like I’m slacking.  No.  I know I’m slacking.  This mom/student/wife/library lady/blogger gig is kickin’ my booty.  Maybe I’m letting it. It’s been a while since I’ve talked about algebra.  There’s a reason for that. I suck at math.  Period. I made it through one class, drove home in tears and haven’t been the same since.  I don’t know who I was kidding.  I thought I could handle Intermediate Algebra.  It’s been at least 13 years since I last had an algebra class…and this, I couldn’t take. I have some exciting news to share!  Friday, I received word that I am an official Brand Ambassador for The View!  *squeeeeeeeee* I started watching The View when I was pregnant with Johnny in 1999.  There were a few years in there when I was working days and wasn’t able to partake in my morning show, summers and non-school days being the exception. Last week, I took a trip down memory lane.  As part of a promotion, General Mills, Target Stores and Atari have teamed up to bring sexy the good times back.  Now, in Target stores across the country you can find five limited-edition General Mill cereals sporting retro looks. It’s time to get personal. We’ve had some issues arise with Johnny.  He’s started in with attitude, and it’s now hurting him at school.  I’ve mentioned that his defense is “What?  I didn’t do anything!”.  And it’s said in a really snotty tone. Now, he’s acting out in school.  It’s not good.  I know something is going on with him…but he doesn’t want any help.
