Heartbreakingly beautiful. It’s exactly how I describe the new album by Corrine Bailey Rae, The Sea. I feel like I’m taking a journey through emotions. A journey of new depth, experience loss and grief. The Sea, released January 26th, features the smooth jazz sound you can expect, only matured. Having suffered the loss of her husband in March of 2008, The Sea is full of loss, love, heartbreak and grief. It’s all so beautiful.

Bailey Rae’s self-titled debut entered the U.K. album chart at #1 in June 2006 and she was the first British female singer-songwriter in decades to have her debut album enter The Billboard 200 in the Top 20. Within the year, she had won a Q award, a MOJO award, an Image award and two MOBO awards and appeared on a host of television shows, including “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Good Morning America” and “Ellen.”
Bailey Rae will be touring this year in numerous locations backed by many of the musicians who played on the new record, which she co-produced with Steve Brown, and Steve Chrisanthou, who produced many of the songs on her RIAA-certified Platinum, self-titled debut album.
