Last September when I went to New York City, I met Rhea.  She’s such an incredible person!  Seriously.  Check out her blog, Mommy23Monkeys.com and you’ll see why. Right now, Rhea needs our help.  Her cousin’s 11 month old daughter, Penelope has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.  And insurance is only going to cover 60% of her treatments. I’m one of those people that loves learning quirky facts.  So much so, I’ve read all of the Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader books.  To be truthful, I’ve read them all many, many times.  Just one or two of the quips before I go to bed. We recently tried out National Geographic Kids, Weird But True.  It’s a book chock-full of fun facts!  You never know when you’ll need these little bits of knowledge. Brandon and I are working on making dinners easier.  In the last year we’ve really struggled with grocery shopping and meal planning.  In the past, I would go to the grocery store every two weeks.  We’d come home with a load of groceries and still ask…”What’s for dinner?” So, we’ve decided to grocery shop every week, usually on Sunday.  Before going to the store, we sit down to write what’s on the menu.  So far, so good.  This week we’re having: Sunday – Steaks, pasta salad garlic and mushroom green beans Monday – Spaghetti, garlic rolls, salad Tuesday - Sloppy Joe’s, baked french fries Wednesday – Roast Chicken... [more]

Growing up, we always had 4-5 pot pies in the freezer for those times when mom didn’t feel like making anything or it was just one of those days.  From what I can remember, my brothers and I didn’t complain!  We loved those things! Now that I’m a mom, I find myself relying on those same pot pies for my kids, er, well one of them.  Johnny is my picky guy and Paige will eat anything!  In fact, it’s gotten to the point that I’ve had to put the Banquet frozen dinner meals in the back of the freezer and hide them with other frozen products.  Out of sight, out of mind for that girl.  Because I can’t resist when she asks a if she can have a “Pot pie! ... [more]

Recently, I had the opportunity to read Add More ~ing To Your Life:  A Hip Guide to Happiness by Garielle Berstein.  This kind of book isn’t something I typically read, but when you feel as though a change is in order, you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do! Gabrielle Bernstein is the gal behind the ~ing.   She’s a motivational speaker and life coach seen riding around the West Village on a unicycle.
