This last week, the weather has been beautiful.  There were a few times I thought about busting out the flip flops and capris!  I don’t know what it is about spring, but it makes me want to get with it!  I want to spice up my wardrobe, start a beauty routine and keep my greys under control.  However, that takes time and money…or does it? I’m one of those people that loves learning quirky facts.  So much so, I’ve read all of the Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader books.  To be truthful, I’ve read them all many, many times.  Just one or two of the quips before I go to bed. We recently tried out National Geographic Kids, Weird But True.  It’s a book chock-full of fun facts!  You never know when you’ll need these little bits of knowledge. All month long Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has hosted it’s annual 31 Days of Oscar leading up to the Academy Awards.  This year’s edition of the month-long even will feature 360 Academy Award®-nominated and winning movies, all presented uncut and commercial-free. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it…but just in case you’ve forgotten, Brand and I were married on Valentine’s Day.  Surprisingly enough, Brand was the one who wanted to get married on that particular day.  Romantic, right?  Yeah, well, he’s not.  He picked that day because it’s easy to remember, and in a sense, kills two birds with one stone.  No guy wants to forget his anniversary. I love football.  High school, college and pro.  I love it all!  Of course, I bleed red with my Nebraska Huskers, but we’re also fans of the New York Jets.  While I was disappointed that they didn’t make it to the Superbowl, I’m a fan of the New Orleans Saints…it’s all good! That said, the Superbowl is one of my favorite days of the year.  I make finger foods for the family to enjoy all night long.  Last year we had, spicy wings, spinach artichoke dip, bbq meatballs, 7 layer mexican dip and stuffed puffed pastry bites.  It was delicious…and fun!  I’d have to rate it as a perfect day.  I guess that is why I’m excited for the game on Sunday. ... [more]

When I get stressed, I get canker sores. I love candles and smellies (ahem, good smellies) in the house.  What I don’t love is the black soot that comes from the candles.  Perhaps something is wrong with my house, but I’ve had several brands of candles fill my front room with soot and smoke, to the point that the smoke detector goes off.  I’m left with sooty walls and furniture/toys/floors that must be washed.
